**UPDATE** The Wives of Oscar Leutz

Two updates in two days?!  My goodness I must be on a roll or something.  And oddly enough it is on the same topic as yesterday.  If you will recall I was attempting to sort out the four known wives of Oscar Leutz.  Today I confirmed Uncle Bob once again.  Oscar's marriage to Bertha Woods was in fact very short lived.  They were married December 28, 1920 and were divorced in October, 1921.  As found in the newspaper announcing the separation...

In the case of Oscar Leutz vs. Bertha A. Leutz, Judge Wierman has granted a divorce to the plaintiff on the grounds of gross neglect of duty, and the defendant divested of all property rights of plaintiff by way of dower or otherwise, and defendant has been restored to her maiden name Bertha Woods.

**UPDATE**Military Men

UPDATE: Ernie Isaac was kind enough to look at this picture for me and identify the man in the second row, fourth from the right as his father, Ernie Isaac. He also confirmed the identity of Curt Brough & Merrill Rudes. Thank you Ernie!

This is another picture I took when dad and I went to visit Uncle Bob. According to Uncle Bob this is the C. Company, 467th Chemical Mortar Battalion. Uncle Bob started rattling off names so fast this whippersnapper could barely keep up and I had to ask him to repeat a name or two. Please pardon any misspellings but starting on the left, front row we have Allen Dykeman, Joe Cleary, Raleigh Qualman, Paul Lockwood, Merrill B. Rudes, Carl Alamo, Robert Leutz, Bill Richie and Kurt Brough. In the second row, fourth from the left stands Roy Cooley. Do any of the other faces look familiar?

Timeframe: World War II

How It Fits: Merrill B. Rudes is the son of Merrill Rudes & Della Meyer. Robert Leutz is the son of Leon Leutz & Merle Rose Fritsche.

The Leutz Children

Today we have a picture that almost needs no identification. One the left we have A.J. In the middle is Mary Cary and on the right we have Robert.

Timeframe: There is another picture that was taken the same day in the same location that also has Merrill Rudes in it. That leads me to believe this was taken in the late 1930's or very, very early 1940's. In the other picture I see a wedding band on Mary Cary so I assume it was taken after 1941.

Where It Fits: Mary Caroline, Robert & A.J. are the children of Leon Leutz and Merle Fritsche. Mary Caroline married Merrill Rudes and is the mother of Diane, Merrill, Terrence & De Ila. Robert married Olelia Rohda and is the father of John. A.J. married Jeanette Henry and is the father of Sandra & Gary.

Cousins

This picture is labeled "cousins" on the back. Left to right we have Beetrice, A.J., Robert, Mary Caroline, and Monabell Leutz.

I have no cute stories about this picture specifically but I would like to point out that Uncle Bob has a big boy haircut. As we were going through the pictures he spotted one of himself that reminded him of a childhood stunt. It seems he went to the barber to get his hair cut and told the barber that his mother said he could get a big boy hair cut. The barber doubted this but when Uncle Bob told him to call his mother and ask if he didn't believe him the barber yielded and gave Uncle Bob the requested cut. Uncle Bob neglected one minor detail. At some point he was going to have to go home and his mother was going to notice. It seems he walked around for quite a while before getting the nerve to go home.

Timeframe: According to the writing on the front of the picture it was taken in 1926.

Where It Fits: Mary Caroline, Robert & A.J. are the children of Leon Leutz & Merle Fritsche. Beetrice & Monabell are the children of Berlin Leutz & Lilly S. Scholt. They were indeed cousins as Leon & Berlin are brothers.
